The Shanghai Restaurant is Ottawa's first Chinese restaurant in what is now known as Chinatown. A family tradition since 1971, Alan Kwan and his family worked very hard to transform a little old grocery store into that 70's Asian eatery.

The family has seen many changes over the years, with the business carrying over to the next generation - blending the old with the new. And, the Shanghai continues to serve their patrons with delicious Cantonese and Szechuan food with an added twist of Thai and other Asian ingredients and styles.

From our family to yours, our sincerest thanks to everyone for your patronage in both the past and present. We hope to see you and yours in the near future.
